Mark Stead, Ph.D. is Senior Business Development Director at Exelixis, Inc. In this role, he is responsible for the negotiation of partnerships and strategic transactions in support of Exelixis’ mission to accelerate the discovery, development and commercialization of new medicines for difficult-to-treat cancers. Before joining Exelixis, Mark worked as Director of Alliance Management at Kite, a Gilead company, where he was responsible for Kite’s alliances with Daiichi-Sankyo in Japan, as well as the FosunKite Joint Venture in China. Prior to Kite, he worked as Senior Manager in the Technology Licensing Group within Amgen’s Business Development unit, where he was responsible for Search & Evaluation, Due Diligence, and Transactions for discovery-stage licensing and platform collaborations across multiple therapeutic areas. Prior to joining the Business Development team, Mark was a Senior Scientist in Amgen’s Discovery Research organization, where he led a molecular biology team engaged in the generation and optimization of multi-specific biologic therapeutics. Before entering the biopharmaceutical industry, Mark was an associate member of the faculty of the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Mark holds a Ph.D. in Genetics from the University of Georgia and a B.S. in Biology from Saint Martin’s University.
